F3C - FLORIDA CAMERA CLUB COUNCIL ENTRIES
|
The 2016 3rd Triannual - Digital competition is now in progress!
The deadline for uploading entries is Wednesday, November 30th, 2016.
F3C also provides educational opportunities through webinars and a yearly conference. In 2017 it will be held from March 10 - 12th at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers with the theme "Photography: The Art and The Science".

One of the things I like about Oviedo is that while it continues to grow, it still has events with a small town feel. I see many of the same faces wherever I go, from the Farmer's Market to the Haunted House and even the volunteers manning the early voting tables at the library. We do a lot of events so we all have the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful people.
I wish I had Rising 5K Gold medals to give our members for their willingness to jump in and help out at our Halloween events this year. Rosemarie, Lamar, Lauren, Mark, and Joe are all new to the club and came out to photograph events. Rosemarie did an incredible four of the five Halloween events and it's her first month in the club. Michael S. managed to get away from his weird work hours to take several hundred posed portraits, choose the best of them and get them posted in record time. Vallie, Margie, Jerry, Kevin, Sharon, Mike H. and Frederic were all at events taking photos, supporting our club and the community and having a good time. My thanks to you all and anyone else I may have missed seeing at an event. And finally, my congratulations to all who submitted photos for our City Hall and Annex galleries. Three of our new members joined in and now have photos on display in a city building. Our next round of photos won't focus on Oviedo so if you have suggestions for a theme please send them to the club email. |

 The latest photos selected from our Oviedo Parks series have been printed, framed and hung. Many thanks to Kellie for making the selections, to Scott for spending hours printing, buying frames and then matting and framing the photos. Our thanks to both Kellie and Scott for hosting us on Saturday for the big reveal, the wonderful bonfire and the chance to socialize with each other. If you are in the Oviedo area some weekday during normal business hours stop by and check out all of our photos. The Annex and City Hall buildings are at the Oviedo City Complex located at 400 Alexandria Blvd. The photos removed from the Annex will be available for pickup at the November 21 meeting.

FIELD TRIP - SATURDAY, NOV. 19

WHERE: OLD TOWN KISSIMMEE
WHEN: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19
TIME: 4pm - until
Vintage cars, 1979 and older, will start arriving at 1:00 pm and then will cruise the streets of Old Town starting at 8:30 pm. We will take photos of the buildings, parked cars and the cruise as well as the rides in the amusement park. We can decide on when and where to eat after we arrive. Sunset will be around 5:30 so we will meet at 4:00 at the intersection with the clock to take some golden hour shots, then take a break and find something to eat and then do night shots and the cruise.

For our meeting bring 5-7 pictures taken at recent events or any other recent photos in a folder labeled "OPC Review" on a thumb drive that contains only those photos. Use a labeled folder with only those photos in it to make it easy for our projectionist.

Our Christmas Party will be held at Susan's home in Tuskawilla on Monday, December 5th from 6 - 10:00 pm. There will be a separate mailing later this month to members with more details and directions. We will have a lot of door prizes to give away including gift certificates and more. We will have a White Elephant gift exchange for those who wish to participate. You may bring a guest. Members attending are asked to bring a dish to share, the club will provide water, tea, soda and coffee.

Given the busy holiday season we are combining our third Monday meeting with our December Field trip. We will be going to the Sculpture Garden located in Lake Concord Park between the Casselberry Municipal buildings and the Casselberry Art House. The garden is lighted for the holidays and there is a boardwalk along the West Side of Lake Concord. We will meet at the Garden at 6:00 pm, take photos until around 7:30 then find someplace to have dinner.

There are many photography blogs out there. One of the favorites out there is Fstoppers. This online community has been around since 2010 and covers photography and video topics. The blog includes discussion groups, photo of the day, camera and equipment reviews, and many educational articles to improve skill set.

CASSELBERRY ART HOUSE EXHIBIT - JANUARY 2017
|
Thanks to all who've already committed to the January show. This is a big event and opportunity for the club and we want to make sure everyone who wants to participate gets an opportunity to do so. We've decided to extend the deadline to commit until November 27th. Photos must be nicely framed or canvas wrapped and they can be up to 2' x 3' in size. You can put in from one to at least five photos and possibly more. The responses received will determine the final number you can hang. The photos must be delivered to the Art House on January 3, 2017 but if you'd like, you may drop off your photos and the release form during the Christmas party at Susan's house and we will deliver them for you.

We will put you in touch with someone familiar with the program who can walk you through creating personal public and non-public galleries for your personal and event photos, uploading your photos to your galleries, renaming your photos and changing the copyright in Zenfolio. Once you have your event photos in one of your personal non-public galleries we can help you with how to select photos to copy into the public event gallery. Please remember you may create as many groups and galleries as you'd like in your group folders but please do not add any groups or galleries to the public event or field trip galleries.
